Sincerely, Grizzly played a banging set in Sydney

More Sincerely Grizzly More Sincerely Grizzly

After almost six years, two well-received EPs and numerous tours, Saturday finally saw the launch of Adelaide shout-rock trio Sincerely, Grizzly’s debut LP. By 9pm the Metropolitan Hotel was well on its way to reaching capacity for the launch of Halves, to be released by Black Night Crash Records, to which the band recently signed.

Adelaide locals, Shiver, set a cracking pace, playing an energetic ten-minute set. Some lovely melodic and gritty work by the guitarist was a highlight. Next to take the stage was Sydney duo, Corpus. Viking-like drummer, Jack Bruun-Hammond, stunned the audience with his hammering style, whilst vocalist and guitarist, Keiron Steel, employed rhythmic and dark lyricism, impressing all with his intensity.

At 11pm sharp, Sincerely, Grizzly hit the stage to play a banging set to friends, family and fans. Two years in the making, this record is obviously the product of much hard work. Tracking was done both in Melbourne, at Hot House Studios, and with singer and guitarist Joshua Calligeros’ cousin, Jack Arentz. Mixing was done by Melbourne’s Tony Mantz at Deluxe Mastering.
Calligeros described the main idea behind the songs as “division and attempting to exist between the two extremes of each half of that divide.” This push and pull between two forces can be heard in their music, highlighted by Calligeros’ sometimes soft, other-times aggressive vocal performance.

Expect to hear some of these tracks on the radio folks, and be sure to check out their live show too.
