Save It For The Bedroom. Jealous Minds Think Alike. The Truth Is A Terrible Thing. GOSSIP. Are you experiencing flashbacks to your teenage years yet? Well, prepare to feel old, as all these songs and the album they’re from – Take Off Your Colours, the debut album by You Me At Six, turns 15 tomorrow (6 October).

To celebrate the anniversary of their perfect pop-punk debut, the Surrey outfit is releasing a limited vinyl pressing, as well as new merchandise. “Our first album Take Off Your Colours was released 15 years ago this Friday,” the band wrote on social media this morning (5 October).

“We wanted to do a proper release to vinyl of this album for years, and now that we as a band finally own the rights to do so, we are releasing a limited vinyl pressing with some new merch!”

You can buy your copy of Take Off Your Colours by registering for the band’s mailing list, which you can find here.

Vocalist Josh Franceschi said about the anniversary release on Twitter, “Yeah so 15 years later we finally own the rights to our debut album. Always wanted to get some vinyls printed and now we can. We’re self funding and self releasing this run of vinyls & merch. DIY kings once again”.

Kill Your Stereo previously noted that “Take Off Your Colours displayed a maturity that was well beyond their own teenage years”, which is true to this day.

In July, You Me At Six returned to Australia for the first time in four years with special guests Set It Off (making their Australian debut) and special guests Between You And Me.

“Teenage Josh wouldn’t be surprised that I was doing something with my life, but I think he'd be surprised and pretty proud that we were doing this,” Franceschi said in a December 2022 Kill Your Stereo interview. “In the creative industry, I'm sure you understand, from your perspective as a journalist and a writer, that there is a life expectancy for a band or an artist. The lifespan, musically speaking, is not endless.”

You Me At Six’s most recent album, Truth Decay, was released in February this year. Upon its release, the album debuted at #4 on the UK Albums Chart, while their good friends in Paramore hit #1 with This Is Why.
