More Paramore More Paramore

Paramore's sixth album and first in over five years, This Is Why, has debuted at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart in its first week. The record has also topped the Vinyl Albums Chart, with Pierce The Veil's new album, The Jaws Of Life, right behind them. Those pop-up stores might have assisted in some of those sweet vinyl sales.

This Is Why is Paramore's third #1 album in Australia, following Brand New Eyes (2009) and Paramore (2013). Their 2017 album, After Laughter, debuted at #3. Their 2005 debut, All We Know Is Falling, failed to chart here but subsequently received a Gold certification. Riot! (2007) is also certified Gold in Australia and peaked at #47 upon release.

Paramore's sixth album currently sits above global superstars Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, SZA and The Weeknd on the Albums Chart, and above Styles, Swift, and Cold Chisel's The Live Tapes Vol. 1: Live At The Hordern Pavilion, April 18, 2012, in the vinyl category. Can we have an Australian tour to celebrate; pretty please?

To make release week even sweeter, Paramore have also topped the UK Albums Chart with their first #1 in a decade - You Me At Six debuted at #4 with their eighth album, Truth Decay

Paramore also just released their third music video from this album cycle, Running Out Of Time, following The News and the title track.

The band returned after a lengthy hiatus in September, releasing the title track and their first new song since 2017's After Laughter (vocalist Hayley Williams put out two excellent solo albums in 2020, Petals For Armor and 2021, Flowers For Vases / Descansos).

This Is Why is an ear-worm of a track that explores a "plethora of ridiculous emotions" and "the rollercoaster of being alive in 2022". On the other hand, The News is pointed in commentary and drumming work.

"The News is one of those songs that came together pretty quickly and felt exciting from the start," Williams revealed in a statement. "It feels like a happy medium between classic Paramore angst and bringing in some influences we’ve always had but never exploited. Watching Zac [Farro] track drums for this one was one of my favourite memories from the studio."

This Is Why is out now. You can listen to it here.
