Australia’s favourite touring heavy music festival, UNIFY Gathering, is returning this May and June after it recently announced a year-long hiatus. However, this is a different iteration of the event, with smaller line-ups in far more intimate spaces.

In November, the UNIFY showrunners wrote, "Hi legends. While UNIFY FOREVER was one of our favourite shows we've put on, we've made the call to take a year off. Stay tuned for exciting UNIFY updates early in the new year.

"Until then, have a great Summer and make sure you support all the other awesome events out there."

It seems that UNIFY couldn’t truly disappear for an entire year. Today, the producers of Unify Gathering proudly announce Unify Off The Record 2023.

Hitting Mackay, Adelaide, Wollongong, Hobart, and Frankston, Unify Off The Record 2023 features a diverse line-up of Australia's premiere heavy acts, including ARIA chart-topping Northlane, Thy Art Is Murder, Thornhill, Make Them Suffer, Teenage Joans, In Hearts Wake, Alpha Wolf, Ocean Grove, Yours Truly, Void Of Vision, Redhook and more, as well as one international outfit in American deathcore band Fit For An Autopsy.

UNIFY is returning to five cities in club venues. The New South Wales, Victorian and South Australian legs will be run like miniature festivals with 8-10 band lineups, and all five events will include a 24Hundred pop-up store, artist signings and workshops (APRA Songcraft Sessions and High Spirit Session by Support Act), and Connection to Country before and after doors.

“When we made the decision to skip the 2023 gathering, we knew right away that we wanted to do something to fill the space left. We’ve always been so grateful to all the people who make the annual pilgrimage to Gippsland from all over Australia and sometimes the world.

"So this year, we thought, why not take the show to the people and try to replicate the vibe, ethos and excitement of UNIFY on a different scale,” a representative from Red Hill Entertainment said in a statement.

The representative added, “UNIFY is obviously a music festival, but it’s also always been an opportunity to bring our heavy music-loving community together to share our experiences and learn.

"We’re taking that ethos with us on the Off The Record road trip, working alongside APRA AMCOS and Support Act to host some real-talk sessions on everything from songwriting to mental health and providing exclusive insight into some of the Off The Record artists’ own stories.

"You’ll also be able to hit up the travelling pop-up merch shop, selling our exclusive UNIFY Off The Record merch and other hard-to-find goodies.”

Tickets go on sale this Wednesday, 22 March, at 9 am local time via the UNIFY website. Find full line-up and date details below.
