In devastating news for fans of metalcore, hardcore, and punk-rock music, we're losing out on UNIFY Gathering in 2023.

While no reasoning has been given for the festival's cancellation next year, organisers didn't seem too gutted revealing the decision on social media - perhaps they're thinking of other metal ventures?

Sharing the announcement, the UNIFY showrunners wrote, "Hi legends. While UNIFY FOREVER was one of our favourite shows we've put on, we've made the call to take a year off. Stay tuned for exciting UNIFY updates early in the new year.

"Until then, have a great Summer and make sure you support all the other awesome events out there."

Some fans have speculated that this year's event, UNIFY FOREVER, spelled the end with "forever" in the title. Others have claimed that Good Things Festival and Knotfest have stolen all the bands, while most are just upset that Australian audiences have lost out on another heavy music festival.

UNIFY FOREVER was indeed a special one, hosting the likes of The Amity Affliction, Violent Soho, Slowly Slowly, Trophy Eyes, Alt., Drown This City, Dream On Dreamer, Grenade Jumper, Plini, Redhook, Short Stack, Thornhill, Waax, Yours Truly, and even more incredible local bands.

Redhook blew our collective minds with their INSANE show: "Three words I never thought I would hear: 'Saxophone Circle Pit'. That's just ONE of the highlights Redhook delivered, along with a cover of 'Milkshake'. Yepp, 'my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard'. Emmy Mack bought EVERYONE to the yard. She must have burned 1000 calories from the sheer output she gave on that stage. Very, very good for a band with six songs."

The Amity Affliction capped off a phenomenal Friday at UNIFY FOREVER with a mammoth 80-minute set. "Amity fans were treated to an incredibly diverse setlist with songs stretching from Youngbloods all the way to Like Love. No strangers to playing and headlining Unify Gathering, The Amity Affliction proved why they have earned your respect. They have perfected their live show & on a personal level, I think it was the best clean vocalist, Ahren Stringer, has ever sounded!"

We hope that UNIFY Gathering will return in 2024 so we can make more memories.
