More Dream On, Dreamer More Dream On, Dreamer

Melbourne heavyweights Dream On Dreamer have returned with Surrender, and man, is it great to have them back.

We’ve missed them during their hiatus, and they still rock their signature style of metalcore characterised by singing and harsh growls, filthy chugs and poppy melodies. Somehow, instead of sounding like their music has gotten caught in a blender and gotten all messed up, it stands out.

Armed with a striking music video (and press shot) directed by Third Eye Visuals, Dream On Dreamer are back and making a statement. You can check out the clip for Surrender below and get excited about what’s ahead for the local lads.

The band’s recently announced reunion, which until today only included a tour, has just grown tenfold. You can catch Dream On Dreamer celebrating their tenth anniversary with special guests alt., Wayside and Inertia this month, playing career-spanning sets in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide. You can see all the tour dates below.

Just how much new music is on the way? Well, according to a recent press release, it could be a lot.

The press release indicates that Dream On Dreamer have tons of music up their collective sleeves, stating that during Covid-19 lockdowns and restrictions, the band “embarked on a soul-searching musical journey, penning 23 demos that explored the depths of their creative prowess”. Get hyped.

We’re thrilled that the band’s hiatus didn’t last years and years – we thought last year’s Hurricane would be the end.

With humble beginnings in 2009, founding members Callan Orr and Marcel Gadacz followed a relentless and ambitious pursuit of musicality.

From their raw and brutal introduction, Dream On Dreamer’s debut Set Sails, Armada through to their culmination in What If I Told You It Doesn’t Get Better and the standalone Hurricane and now, Surrender, Dream On Dreamer remain an exercise in introspection, adaptation and evolution.
