BABYMETAL, queens of collaboration, have teamed up with Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello for the aptly-titled blistering new single, METAL!!

Opening up with chunky riffs, BABYMETAL’s choreography and captivating vocals make for an already exciting single before Morello appears.

METAL!! is the first track by the band as a newly formed trio of SU-METAL, MOAMETAL, and MOMOMETAL and finds Morello offering his calling card: a typically great feedback noise, Wah pedal-filled solo.

“I am a big fan of Babymetal, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns,” Morello said about working with the Japanese metal band in a statement, per NME.

“I’ve been trying to work with them for some time, and when they sent me the demo of ‘Metali’, I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!”

BABYMETAL announced that they’d become a trio back in April. The group recruited a third member to the band, Girls Planet 999 contestant Momoko Okazaki, becoming a trio again after Yui Mizuno left the band in 2018.

Okazaki, adopting the name Momometal, joined the band on stage on 1 April after being a backing dancer for BABYMETAL since 2019.

Band members Nakamoto Suzuka as "Su-metal" and Kikuchi Moa as "Moametal" are known for focusing on real-world issues that mainly affect women, such as bullying, the pressure put on teenage girls to remain thin and the always-changing concept of an “ideal woman" - all subjects that have resonated with an audience around the world.

In March, they released their latest album, The Other One, led by the singles Metal Kingdom and Monochrome.

The Other One was focused on a restoration project: “Through the METALVERSE, a restoration project called THE OTHER ONE will reveal a side of Babymetal we never knew existed. This is the ‘other’ story of Babymetal,” a press release reads.

In June, BABYMETAL embarked on their first-ever Australian headline tour.
