Could Yellowcard be gearing up to announce a 2024 Australian tour? According to frontman William Ryan Key, fans down under could have their prayers answered next year.

Chatting with Neil Griffiths on his The Plug podcast, Key said, “We’re working on it” after Griffiths quizzed him on possible Australian dates. That answer arrived after Key discussed the band’s plans for touring in Europe in 2024. You can listen to the full episode below.

In case you’re unsure about a little comment from Key, in April, Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas and Paul Doucette joined Griffiths on The Plug and teased, “We will be boots on the ground in Australia next year… we’ll be bringing some good friends; that is happening.” In May, Matchbox Twenty announced their first Australian tour in ten years.

Yellowcard last toured in Australia in February 2017. The American pop-punk favourites played their final show on 25 March 2017 at the House Of Blues, Anaheim, before reforming on stage at Riot Fest in September 2022.

Since their reunion, Yellowcard have played at Slam Dunk Festival in the UK, When We Were Young in Las Vegas, and this year, are commemorating the 20th anniversary of Ocean Avenue on tour with Story Of The Year, Anberlin, Mayday Parade and This Wild Life. Could Australia receive some of those Ocean Avenue 20th anniversary shows?

In July, the band dropped their new EP, Childhood Eyes. The EP was executive produced and mixed by Neal Avron (Fall Out Boy, New Found Glory, Disturbed) and distributed by Equal Vision Records.

The independent record label from Albany, NY, welcomed Yellowcard to the Equal Vision Records family in May. The release also features guest vocalists Vic Fuentes from Pierce The Veil and Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carrabba.

“What began as a single show in Chicago last year has evolved into so much more,” Yellowcard wrote on Facebook in an EP announcement post. “We can finally share with you that our new EP, ‘Childhood Eyes’ (executive produced and mixed by Neal Avron), will release on Equal Vision Records July 7, 2023.

“We feel like these 5 songs represent the Yellowcard sound that fans know and love in the best possible way. We are so honored [sic] to be partnering with Equal Vision for this new chapter of our career.

"We are also excited to share with you that Vic Fuentes of Pierce the Veil and Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional joined us for some amazing guest vocals on the EP. Looking forward to having this new music out in the world and as always, thank you for listening.”
