Album Review: The Proposition - Edge Of The Dancefloor

"An innocent and revitalising dose of tutti frutti-flavoured doo-wop pop."

The new full-length from the Sydney outfit led by singer-songwriter Luke Russell and Murray Cook (better known by a generation as the Red Wiggle) delivers an innocent and revitalising dose of tutti frutti-flavoured doo-wop pop.

While sonically the record exudes a carefree joy, the lovestruck lyrics deliver more maturity than you would expect from an album featuring a former Wiggle, particularly when exaggerated by their contrast against the instrumental's bubblegum jangle.

Only hindered by repetitious themes and lacklustre guitar work, Edge Of The Dancefloor displays a strong idealistic commitment to the flavours and romanticism of a time gone by.
