Album Review: The Nation Blue - Blue

The yin to Black's yang, Blue is far less blue than its bleak other half, and it becomes clear the trio couldn't have stuck to a regular one-album release if they'd tried.

In this case it's a good problem to have, not an example of self-indulgence. Blue Bloods takes a sombre dip before Always Keep A Light On winds things back up again with a big chorus. Black Fax's everyman dread of the office is all the more palpable with a sparse downward guitar strum, and Paranoia's rampant gallop echoes the pouty delivery. It's these urban tales and basic but likeable guitar-driven moments that make Blue enjoyable on a whole other level.
