"A band who seem unable or unwilling to do any wrong."

More The Growlers More The Growlers

The much-anticipated follow-up to 2014's excellent Chinese Fountain has been described as a leap forward in songwriting and, while it's not noticeably better than the former, it maintains the high quality songwriting and consistency The Growlers have become known for.

Album number five definitely leans on the right side of indie-funk, drunken pop and the unshakeable feeling that INXS, Icehouse or GANGgajang are about to take over. Charismatic front guy Brooks Nielsen's cartoon character vocal continues to be the centrepiece of their sound. Recorded with Julian Casablancas and Grammy-winning engineer Shawn Everett, City Club is an achievement from a band who seem unable or unwilling to do any wrong.
