"This record underscores Suuns' proclivity for cramming cold madness in their method."

More Suuns More Suuns

Canadians Suuns haven't relented on third album Hold/Still, imbuing every track with a meticulous, tightly coiled tightrope of tension.

Opener Fall is a dark, heavy noise rock dirge — the most destructive thing they have put to tape. Elsewhere there is the cold, mechanical malaise of Instrument, the throbbing sneer of Resistance, the skittish oscillations permeating Paralyzer. Most of these songs are busy yet injected with sparse space and cold precision. There is still more than a shadow of Clinic in their shtick, but this record underscores Suuns' proclivity for cramming cold madness in their method.
