"Eschewing major label support, they’ve taken on a much more personal process, and it shows"

More Surfer Blood More Surfer Blood

Surfer Blood’s progression from 2010’s Astro Coast has been one of refinement of their originally reverb-laden sound to a more mature take on ‘90s rock, and while Pythons saw them forego a lot of their jaunty surf-inspired roots, 1000 Palms is a self-made testament to their confidence.

Eschewing major label support, they’ve taken on a much more personal process, and it shows. The collaboration is apparent, especially on tracks like I Can’t Explain, and the general eclecticism of the whole record. With the sad announcement of Thomas Fekete’s sarcoma, we can only hope the band continues.
