The Sony DWZ-M50 Mic has us sold!

Sony seems to be doing a lot right now. I suppose they've always been thought of as a superior brand but since the Walkman, and then PlayStation, things have been a little mundane on the game-changing side of things. Recently they seem to be taking over the market with mirrorless digital cameras, swinging in like a wrecking ball on Canon and Nikon territory, and now it seems the pro audio offerings may just do the same thing.

The DWZ-M50 is a superb piece of technology. The mic itself is solid and sounds absolutely great. It fits in the hand and is a pleasure to use. I don't want to give this sample back. The receiver is another extremely well engineered box working in the 2.4GHz band with 24-bit PCM audio. The LCD screen is fantastic, extremely readable and even has a five-band graphic EQ. It's a pretty ambitious offering that on first impressions works very well indeed – great range and signal strength and no crazy squelch. I'm sold on this one!
