Album Review: Reverend Horton Heat - Rev

Rev couldn’t be a better label debut for these Texan psychobilly stalwarts, one hell of a stellar moment in a 28-year career.

Opening with Victory Lap – a not-quite-as-inspiring-as-one-would-expect instrumental belying somewhat the strength of Reverend Horton Heat's catalogue – Rev, the band's latest offering, only really kicks into gear with track two – Smell Of Gasoline – and doesn't quit burning rubber from thereon in. Jim Heath, Jimbo Wallace and (the recently returned) Scott Churilla, may not be cutting a new path, but given how good they are at their finest, as per this record, it honestly doesn't matter. Rev couldn't be a better label debut for these Texan psychobilly stalwarts, one hell of a stellar moment in a 28-year career.
