"Maybe it's the political climate or something more personal, but Polica's third album finds the band in dismal twilight territory."

Maybe it's the political climate or something more personal, but Poliça's third album finds the band in dismal twilight territory.

While there are some tighter grooves, the mood is saturated in self-absorption as Channy Leaneagh's increasingly diary-like lyrics progressively unravel inner thoughts and feelings. The icy, dismembered vocals of Berlin and the seemingly intensely personal delivery of Kind is typical of the album as the music cuts straight through to the heart of the artist without settling on any kind of memorable or accessible melody.
