Perth Comedy Festival Gala

"...You won't want to miss a thing."

More Rhys Nicholson More Rhys Nicholson

A comedy gala night is always a great way to whet the appetite for the upcoming festival and figure out who to see in the swarm of incoming talent, and last night was no different. Featuring a healthy mix of local, eastern states and international acts, the Gala was once again hosted by the excellent, quick-lipped late bloomer (as we discovered in great detail), Rhys Nicholson.

With such a high a number of acts worth mentioning, the bar has most certainly been raised since this time last year. Newly minted Aussie citizen Mike Goldstein (USA) was a crowd-pleaser early on in the night; it's a shame he hasn't got a show of his own to recommend! Queensland's own Luke Heggie brought his own brand of good old Aussie bloke humour with him - it's unlikely anyone will look at a lawnmower the same way again. Scotland's Daniel Sloss has returned to our shores, tackling the ridiculous notions of masculinity with his brilliant Millennial flair, and Perth debutante Ian Bagg (CAN) finished the night on a high with perhaps the most engaging set of the night for the crowd as a whole.

Do yourself a favour and get down to this year's Comedy Festival. If last night was anything to go by, you won't want to miss a thing.
