"It’s an album built for deep-dark underground clubs at three in the morning"

With the first full-length under her Nocturnal Sunshine moniker, UK trip/house stalwart Maya Jane Coles has stretched out her myriad influences into a tasty, deep and remix-worthy set of swarthy tracks.

Relying heavily on a low-down dub timing and a minimalist approach to textures, Nocturnal Sunshine floats through with little more than some guest vocals and pitch bends altering the flow. It’s an album built for deep-dark underground clubs at three in the morning – bass is a necessity here. More than that, though, it’s a strong statement from a producer that’s been on-game for years already.
