"Where is the originality?"

More Little Mix More Little Mix

Just days away from album number five dropping, Little Mix split from Simon Cowell’s record label, Syco Music, due to management issues and musical direction. That’s never a good sign when launching a new album. Anyways, LM5 is about female empowerment, self-love and sex with a bit of an R&B influence thrown into the mix.

Love A Girl Right is pretty much Sisqo’s Thong Song but reworked with new lyrics - where is the originality? Wasabi takes it up a notch with its sultry lyrics and strangely heavy beat while Told You So cries over a break-up with wine and make-up wipes. The Cure is probably one of the better tracks, but the stripped-back rendition found on the deluxe edition still sounds a million times better than the regular album version. Little Mix's vocals just shine so brightly throughout the track. Woman Like Me (feat Nicki Minaj) was co-written by Ed Sheeran and Jess Glynne, which is why its R&B sound has got everyone wrapped around their fingers.

The album overall is very hit and miss, Little Mix have great vocals but their direction on this album has let them down. As Simon Cowell has said many times before, “It’s a no from me.”
