Album Review: LÂLKA – ‘Euphoria’

Beaming in like a holographic transmission from a neon-lit Bladerunner-esque future where rave and EDM seem to dominate life’s soundtrack, LÂLKA’s new EP delivers insistent BPMs for dancefloor kicks.

The Brisbane-based artist’s approach to producing is experimental. The three new songs and their respective remixes on offer here mould a range of current electronic music styles into something that just feels like good old fashioned nineties rave.

Gradient is about skin colour and offers a personal reaction to the racism that’s all about us. ‘My body is a rave’ LÂLKA proclaims on My Party which deals heartbreak on the dancefloor whilst reflecting on alcohol poisoning and a certain desperation to have a good time.

Featuring Melbourne producer Evangeline, Hold Me features a lonely heart in search of love wrapped in a euphoric rush of celebratory beats and synths. 

Interestingly, the remixes of these three tunes offer different perspectives without specifically being designed for dancefloor grind.
