A hearty treat of punk-influenced rock.

More Kisschasy More Kisschasy

From a heavy rock version of Waltzing Matilda to Blink-182 covers and a sausage sizzle, the inaugural Last Night Australian Day Eve Party was a kaleidoscopic array of musical talent and activities. Filling two venues, all types of tastes were covered for as band after band hit the stages, bringing the crowd into Australia Day in awesome style.

One of Perth’s finest, the youthful Tired Lion, took with natural ease to the stage offering audiences quality musicianship through their fearsome riffs and inspired beats. Sophie Hope’s vocals captured a fragility and yet also a forcefulness which gave a distinct contrast within each tune. The song Desperate oozed their trademark excellence with an enrapturing vigour demonstrating why they are a band truly on the precipice of achieving something great.

Masterful performers I, Said The Sparrow burst forth with an exploding sound full of heavy riffs and booming vocals. Leaning into the audience, lead singer Sean Hendry enthralled the lovers of heavy rock with a charisma well-suited to the genre. All of the band offered a stormy whirlwind energy and intensity, from head-banging to stage-pacing there was little stillness left in the room.

As the main act paraded on stage, the crowd was buzzing with eagerness and the six long years of waiting for the band to return to Perth, evaporated into forgotten history. Kisschasy powered through their set like they were still on top of the scene, resulting in the energetic diehard fans causing a raucous in the now overflowing space.
