"A remarkable finale from a remarkable band."

More Jinja Safari More Jinja Safari

If the first record from Jinja Safari's Crescent Head double album represented the day, then Crescent Moon is most certainly its night.

This yin yang approach of separating all the warm and fuzzy songs from the darker, moodier material isn't exactly an original concept, but it's well executed and both albums are able to stand up on their own. The album's title track is ethereal and raw, with a simple vocal melody and slow building chorus. Exception To The Rule is one of the longer tracks, it's more of the same sombre vocals, embellished with a wide array of instruments including a beautiful harp. Ultimately Crescent Moon is a remarkable finale from a remarkable band.
