"Even Sharon Van Etten's smokey delivery on the title track can't save this glitter-bomb."

Andy Butler has crammed so much into the nine years since Hercules & Love Affair's glitterati-kissed debut that he's now sounding absolutely spent.

This fourth album bows heavily under its overcrowding of guests, delivering as much euphoria as keys being drunkenly fumbled into the front door at 4am. Strings yawn in Fools Wear Crowns, lyrical loops and typewriter beats in Lies stagger about oblivious to each other's existence and The Horrors' Faris Badwan pummels the snooze button on Through Your Atmosphere's lazy Balearic beats. Even Sharon Van Etten's smokey delivery on the title track can't save this glitter-bomb.
