Live Review: Good Things Festival Melbourne Wrap

The first leg of the travelling metal/punk/rock/alternative music festival Good Things took over the Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne (Naarm) yesterday, bringing tens of thousands of people together for a range of unforgettable experiences. The gates were open earlier than last year, and despite trams not running to the venue in the early hours of the day, the Racecourse was packed from the early afternoon.

Headlined by 2000s pop-punk heroes Fall Out Boy, many in Melbourne also gathered to witness the likes of Limp Bizkit, Devo, Bullet For My Valentine, Corey Taylor, Make Them Suffer, Hanabie, Taking Back Sunday, PVRIS and many more put on their respective shows.

While The Music didn’t have a reviewer attend yesterday’s festival, we’ve gathered a round-up of punters’ posts, videos and more for a wrap of Good Things Melbourne 2023.

It’s fair to say that many attendees were absolutely pumped to see Limp Bizkit. The energy of the day was almost on hold until their set, as punters awaited the band’s dynamic set and wondered what would happen when Fred Durst strode onto the stage.

With images and videos on Instagram captioned, “It’s just one of those days”, “ticked Limp Bizkit off the bucket list”, and more, fans are likely in for a real treat once Good Things hits Sydney and Brisbane.

Other Instagram users enjoyed the entire day, not dubbing any one band as the band of the day but instead complimenting the experience as a whole. One user described yesterday’s festival as perhaps “one of the best Good Things we've been to! (We've been to them all)”, with another calling the day “absolutely EPIC”.

Punters who had waited for five years to see Fall Out Boy (or longer if they’d never seen the before) weren’t let down, with a setlist focused on older songs pumping up the enormous crowd.
