Genevieve Fricker: Party Pooper

There is something off-putting when a young person tries to offer advice on the secrets of love to an older audience. Nonetheless, Fricker has potential and it will be exciting to watch her grow as a comedian on stage.

Genevieve Fricker yelped in delight when she stepped out from behind a curtain to find the shipping container in the car park of Marrickville's The Factory was at capacity. Fricker seemed genuinely gleeful about her audience and the audience responded warmly. The contagious nature of laughter helped Fricker enormously as it boosted her confidence and made her more playful with the audience.

Much of Party Pooper concerns the traumas of Fricker's love life across material that appeared as if it has been tirelessly rehearsed. Fricker has the wit and charm of a successful comedian but at only 23, she still needs further life experience to truly be seen as relevant. There is something off-putting when a young person tries to offer advice on the secrets of love to an older audience. Nonetheless, Fricker has potential and it will be exciting to watch her grow as a comedian on stage.
