Smith shows all that work is paying off.

A persistent traveller on the folk festival circuit, with Home Smith shows all that work is paying off.

Having performed and written about life on the war front on his last album, Dust Of Uruzgan, here he heads home with a new child and a new theme. Home is a softer, more introspective album compared to his previous “travelogue” releases. Beautiful Girl and Illawarra Rose are touching, igniting a love of the small things in life. There’s also a lovely rendering of Townes Van Zandt classic, Pancho And Lefty, that, while indulgent, is fitting within the homeward theme.
