Overall thoughts, I love the new elements they have introduced. I love that they have tried new things. LUST was absolutely perfect so I am glad this EP, HEAVEN wasn’t more of the same. Whatever and whenever we get a CHRONICLES III, you can be sure I am excited to hear it and sure to love it.

More Void Of Vision More Void Of Vision

My raw & unedited notes form my first listen of CHRONICLES II: HEAVEN by Void Of Vision

BERGHAIN

Straight away when this song kicks in the initial feeling is like, fuck yeah, Void Of Vision are back with more! Having only released CHRONICLES I: LUST in late October, we are very blessed to have new music so soon after. Vocalist Jack Bergin screams ‘Oh, when the venom kicks can you fuck with this?” to open up this track & EP. But before you get too comfortable, the song continues to exploratory territory with some different vocal styles throughout. It feels like a very different tone to the tone that was set on the songs from LUST. As expected from a set of EP’s, the sound has moved from the very brutal heavy into a slightly more electronic direction.

Gosh darn, this song slaps. This is the first track we heard from the EP. The lead single is incredibly heavy and carries a sample throughout that catapults you between Jack’s vocals and the female cleans. This song adds in some drum and bass moments but make no mistake, it's still very heavy. The band have been able to play this song live a few times now & goes as hard as any other VOV song.

INTO THE DARK

There are so many elements to unpack on this one. I love how much the band have stepped out of the box here. James Mckendrick on the cleans sounds better than ever and for the first time, we get clean vocals from Jack. The track was produced by Dan Searle of Architects. The different musical elements they explore together on this track build to one of their best breakdowns yet & the licks of electric melodies make it a very complex song sound-wise, but not too complex that it’s messy. The drums in the last 30 seconds are OUT of control from George Murphy.

SAINT MISERABLE

A slight step back into a familiar sign. James once again sounds outstanding on this track. The riff throughout is groovy and sexy and you might accidentally find yourself slut dropping in the middle of the pit. YES, I WENT THERE. You’ll see what I mean. It’s low and slow & a damn vibe. The verses are heavy & the catchy chorus is melodic. There’s nothing to dislike about this song!

ALTAR (feat. Hannah Hermionie Greenwood)

FUCK this kicks in quick. THOSE DRUMS. From the first moment, this track captivates you. I want to go through every detail but I kind of what this song to speak for itself. The video for this song will come out tomorrow & I strongly suggest you watch the video with the first listen to the song. The feature from Hannah is absolute fire & the video is stunning, start to finish. This is a HUGE step sonically and visually for Void Of Vision in continuation with everything they have done for this EP and it's a great closing track.
