It’s punchy, it’s catchy. This EP is a great representation of the amazing women who wrote it. Honestly stop looking at them as a girl band and just respect them for the powerhouse musicians they are. I love the statement they make with the title ‘Pretty Good For A Girl Band’ but long for a world where they don’t have to justify that.

Canberra foursome Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers are releasing their debut EP 'Pretty Good For A Girl Band' tomorrow! In line with the launch of the music video for 'Girl Sports' please see our track by track review below!

AHHHH!

This track is just so fkn catchy. It was the first song we heard when the band were announced on Domestic La La records. The girls have received so much love for this track with triple J. The song narrowly missed out on the Hottest 100 and really started to put this band on the platform they deserve.

A slightly grungier song than the first. This one is a slower number and one you’ll enjoy singing along to when you're frustrated and emotional. Scarlett’s guitar solo in the middle is a sick moment and given this is one of only 2 songs we haven’t already heard from the EP it’ll be a great one for fans to fall in love with that’s a change of pace.

MISS YOUR BIRTHDAY

Damn the lyrics in this track are so damn relatable. You know when you’re just fed up with being around people and over socialised, done with travel & what I can imagine is a gruesome touring schedule for the gals. Well listen to this track, then bail on your friends and hang out with just yourself because you need and deserve it. ‘I’m sorry I’ll miss your birthday, you’ll still have a good time’

GIRL SPORTS

This is the song that made me fall in love with this band. The video was just released and is out of control amazing nodding to classic teen movies like twilight & clueless. The lyrical content of this song speaks for itself. It’s not a track about hating all men despite ‘fuck off’ being repeatedly sung. It’s just like, can you not with all the typical misogynistic BS? Don’t wolf whistle at us. Don’t tell us we can’t do something men ‘typically’ do. It’s the lyric ‘it’s kind of complicated you won’t understand’ that really talks to me. As a woman in the music industry, I have heard this one. This track is a fuckin anthem and a great way to not so gently be reminded women are more than capable so kindly fuck off.

BULL DRAGON

Another catchy one. The bridge of this track is a huge moment and fades the track out to end the EP in a nice way. It’s half a self-reflection song half fed up song. Either way, it’s a banger. Make sure you tune in hardcore to the lyrics on this one. The vocal moment with both Anna & Scarlett before the bridge is truly precious. Such great voices that work together and overlap perfectly. Hard to believe the EP is over, to be honest!
