"The harmonies and acoustic guitar are simple yet effective, and once again Russack hasn't shied away from laying everything on the table."

Emma Russack's third album In A New State sees the Melbourne artist stripping back the blues, folk and country stylings of her previous records and diffusing her sound with heavy doses of reverb and hazy effects.

The simple guitar melody and muted bass line of Another Chance is probably one of the sunniest moments on the record. The remaining collection of wistful and moody ballads explore a variety of personal themes from love and relationships to her thoughts about returning to her hometown. The harmonies and acoustic guitar are simple yet effective, and once again Russack hasn't shied away from laying everything on the table.
