Album Review: Eli Young Band - 10,000 Towns

This lacks a sense of occasion that would give their fifth full-length some sort of gravitas.

More Eli Young Band More Eli Young Band

This Nashville-by-way-of-Texas group straddles the emotional pop-country divide better than most, and 10,000 Towns is more class-act radio-friendly songwriting. Very much in the form of popular country music for the 'now', there's nothing to be offended by (or by the same token, anything to get overly drunk to), but there's plenty that'll appeal to a lot of people. That's an admirable thing for a band near the top of their chosen world, but this lacks a sense of occasion that would give their fifth full-length some sort of gravitas.
