Album Review: Dreamers Crime - No Compromises

"There is enough going on here to suggest a big future for this band, with just a little more time and effort put into breaking the shackles of hard rock."

More Dreamers Crime More Dreamers Crime

No Compromises opens with a heartbeat, maybe signalling that the album is about to spring to life. And indeed it does, as aptly titled The Pulse is a cracking opener.

Across the course of the ten tracks on offer here, the album then struggles somewhat to recapture the piston-pumping energy created by The Pulse. It suffers a little from what this scribe might deem to be 'hard rock syndrome', that is, hard rock music has been done to death for the last half-century or so and while Dreamers Crime try hard to put their own modern touch on it, there's not quite enough ideas, originality or true inspiration to sustain the ear for the full 35 minutes. By the time we get to track eight, Breathe Again, the fire has gone out and the album has run out of steam.

This is just their debut album, however, and there is still enough going on here to suggest a big future for Dreamers Crime if they put a little more time and effort into breaking the shackles of hard rock and putting their own true stamp on things. Fingers crossed.
