Album Review: Dr Dog - Live At A Flamingo Hotel

"For a band that’s recorded seven studio albums."

Dr Dog tend to polarise listeners.

Alternative country artists in general are often sent to the dog house by critics who berate them for rehashing old ideas and not hiding their love for “a certain iconic rock group” away. Lazy comparisons to The Beatles aside, live, the Philadelphia six-piece are presented with an opportunity to showcase the best of their material. However, for a band that’s recorded seven studio albums, there’s a surprising lack of good songs. The Truth, Ain’t It Strange and Shadow People all receive extra energy live.
