Live Review: Disclosure

"Special shout-out to the young boy in the upper left-hand side stalls who appears to be rocking a big set of headphones and some killer moves."

More Disclosure More Disclosure

It feels a tad strange walking into a Disclosure gig and sitting down, but that quickly changes as soon as the Lawrence brothers emerge on stage to the tune of White Noise. Another 'vintage' Disclosure track follows, F For You, then the boys politely welcome us to the Sydney Opera House and say they're pretty chuffed to be here, as they should be.

The duo rolls through a number of tracks off their second album, last year's Caracal, and singles Omen and Magnets sound very slick live and receive the biggest crowd reactions so far. They mix things up with another single off their 2013 debut album, Settle, with Eliza Doolittle collaboration You & Me and then move back to recent territory with Echoes. This is one of the rare tracks Howard Lawrence is lead vocalist on and his voice sounds great in the Concert Hall setting.

On another note, there is a nice mix of people here tonight. A few silver foxes, some hardcore Disclosure nuts, some more recent converts and even a couple of young kids are here being all cool and stuff. Special shout-out to the young boy in the upper left-hand side stalls who appears to be rocking a big set of headphones and some killer moves. Your enthusiasm is unmatched, young one!

Disclosure continue to mix up their set with new and old. Tracks Nocturnal, When A Fire Starts To Burn and Holding On are highlights and they bring out Lion Babe's Jillian Hervey for Hourglass. An encore ensues, with vocalist Brendan Reilly (look him up, his voice is incredible!) joining the brothers for Moving Mountains. The intro of Latch rings through the venue and we all lose our marbles. It doesn't disappoint, much like the rest of show. Disclosure are as solid as a very funky rock.
