"Guetta thanks all his sexy Australian girls and his crazy, party-boy fans before fireworks detonate overhead."

More David Guetta More David Guetta

Mysterious #DareWinCelebrate wristbands are slipped over our hands as we enter through the foyer doors of the arena, which is pumping thanks to Ivan Gough's early set.

Benson gets things heated up as partygoers fill the stadium and attempt to shuffle across the sticky dancefloor, which is covered in spilt Mumm champagne. He generates a rising wave of energy utilising a mix of genres that range from R&B and hip hop favourites - like DMX's Party Up (Up In Here) - to the thumping electro beat of Zhu's Faded. Just when Benson's set reaches its surging peak, it unexpectedly slows for a mellow singalong with Toploader's version of the nostalgic pop hit Dancing In The Moonlight. This leaves everyone feeling warm, bright and ready for the main event.

Excitement builds as a countdown lights up before our eyes on the huge LCD screens. David Guetta's latest single Bang My Head (featuring Sia and Fetty Wap) starts to play. We're treated to an exclusive world premiere of the brand new video clip, which coincidently features horse racing, on Melbourne Cup Eve. David Guetta's name soon lights up on the panels surrounding a raised platform with the French producer standing front and centre rocking a topknot man bun.

Lasers and confetti explode onto the audience as we welcome in a public holiday with the fitting anthem Play Hard. Guetta tells us he's ready to party hard and we join in knowing very well that we don't have to set that alarm for tomorrow morning. The stage is a sensory explosion with ever-changing background animations complete with bursts of smoke and flames shooting up into the air to match his heavy beat drops. Giant inflatable balls are soon thrown into the audience and light up as they bounce across the stadium between hand clap responses to his playful remix of popular children's song If You're Happy And You Know It. Just as an ultra trap mix of Lusterstep's Candyland kicks in, our wristbands begin to flicker and, before we know it, the whole room is illuminated with a sea of red, glowing lights as Wonderwall by Oasis kicks in. Our wristbands continue to flash different colours in time to the beat during some of Guetta's biggest hits such as She Wolf (Falling To Pieces) and Without You.
