Club Briefs

"There’s no better time to head down to 'Club Briefs' than over Mardi Gras season."

The world’s finest purveyors of “burlesque with balls” are finally gracing the stage of Sydney’s Mardi Gras festival, with Club Briefs taking up a nine-night residency at the Festival hub.

Hailing from Brisbane and now touring their unique brand of cabaret around the globe, the Briefs Factory collective always bring a unique blend of circus, burlesque, drag, disco dancing and the nude-est of nudity to the stage while dismantling myths around masculinity. All with the unabashed, self-described “immigrant islander bearded drag queen” Shivanna (Fez Fa’anana) at the helm, showcasing some serious wardrobe changes throughout the evening.

Club Briefs has a looser structure than the well-oiled shows that have seen the Briefs crew dominate the Sydney Festival line-up in years gone by, and harks back to the original club night format that spawned the international touring sensation.

Highlights include Dallas Dellaforce schooling the children in the art of drag while dripping in eleganza (with no padding in sight), and Briefs co-founder Captain Kidd (Mark Winmill) absolutely dazzles with his signature aerial bird bath routine (a number that splashes Dita Von Teese’s martini glass schtick right out of the water).

Whether you’ve never seen Briefs live in action before or you’re just keen to soak them up all over again, there’s no better time to head down to Club Briefs than over Mardi Gras season, where you can boogie on out to the Festival Club after the show.
