Burlesque Beats II

"The unashamed swagger of the duo is ably supported by the fishnet-clad 'Hoodrat' helpers who encourage the audience to get their hands in the air."

Returning to Fringe after a sell-out 2015 season, Burlesque Beats' genre-blending of hip hop, burlesque and comedy will fast-track your way to a good night out.

With hip hop royalty of Dazastah and Optamus (from Downsyde) providing the beats and rhymes, the show starts off with a raucous schoolyard dance-off by the big-booty burlesque of The Sugar Twins, whose names — Minx (aka Cinnamon Minx) and Kenjai (aka Goddess Of The Heavenly Booty and recent winner of the WA state Burlesque Idol) — we get to know from their sequined underwear. The unashamed swagger of the duo is ably supported by the fishnet-clad 'Hoodrat' helpers who encourage the audience to get their hands in the air, while MC queer comedian Ayden Doherty "dressed like a 1980s coke dealer" keeps the tempo upbeat in between changeovers. Raising the swag up a notch or two is rapper (Queen) Layla SBX who joins in halfway, before a blistering guest appearance finale from the UK's #1 burlesque performer, Aurora Galore.
