We sent Holly Evans along to emo mecca in Brisbane, The Brightside, in order to check out the goings-on for Belle Haven and The Beautiful Monument's tour date! A rainy weekend did nothing to dampen the spirits of the punters at the show - and it was an EPIC night.

More Belle Haven More Belle Haven

After many years of anticipation and teasing, the wait is over; Belle Haven and The Beautiful Monument FINALLY embarked on a spellbinding co-headlining national tour brought to you by Destroy All Lines. Here’s how it went down on a stormy night at the Brightside in Brisbane where lightning struck!

Kicking off the night were local legends in Nervous Light! Epic post hardcore serving us nostalgic sad boi anthems driven by powerful vocals and drums. Wonderful atmosphere, they looked very comfortable on stage and the show they put on showed that, giving off super reminiscent vibes showcasing songs of of their latest EP, Bury What’s Left Of My Heart In Your Backyard taking all of us on a feels trip. If you’re a fan of Casey, nothing. nowhere., Movements or Holding Absense, give these dudes a spin, you will NOT be disappointed. To quote a fan I spoke to after the show - ‘it’s a vibe’.

Terra followed adorned in sailor hats with an EXHILARATING set; super edgy pop punk tunes that you can’t help but cut a rug to and jump around. The energy was unmatched and you could feel it in the air. Or was it love in the air? Who doesn’t love a good bromance moment on stage, am I right? The stand out song was definitely Frenemies with vocalist, Cassie, baring a grit and sassy attitude similar to the queen herself, Lauren Babic, with driven, tasty bass riffs. They definitely got a great response from the crowd - we’re all super keen to see where the rest of the year takes these guys.

After 14 months of not touring brings us scene veterans in Belle Haven back better, badder and stronger than ever and they did NOT disappoint. Heavy riffs, big vocals and sad boi bangers; what more do ya need? Despite being in a room with 300 other people the set felt super intimate, you could tell that the band were genuinely happy to be there and see all of us. Playing old favourites like Burn The Witch making the crowd the crowd lose their minds starting the biggest mosh of the night and angry fists in the air screaming back at the band. Belle Haven has always brought the noise and this show was no different. It’s always a pleasure to see them take the stage.

And finally to close this blockbuster event of an evening were the lovely ladies and lad of The Beautiful Monument. Wow. Just wow. A combination of beautiful vocals, super catchy tunes and massive drums was the witchy voo-doo they needed to cast a spell on the crowd that made us all sing and dance along. If you saw me sitting on the stairs crying during Stay - no you didn’t. Incredible energy from the entire band with dreamy vocals from Lizi bewitching the entire crowd with drummer, Adam, bringing the thunder driving the entire set into the stratosphere making every single person feel alive.

Overall; the night was INCREDIBLE. Shout out to Destroy All Lines, The Brightside, the bands and the fans for making it a wonderful night full of fun, beers and awesome music!
