Bella Green - Is Charging For It

Bella Green is opening up the pages of her life in a way that only she can. As a worker in the sex industry with a rich history in its many varying facets, she has literally seen it all.

Charging For It has gone through a number of iterations at this point and Green’s 2021 offering is the most intimate and personal version of the show yet. Where once the performance featured sketches, guest stars and audio visual components, now it’s just Green, a mic and a few pieces of paper. This stripped-back iteration of the show may feel a little less polished to those familiar with her previous offerings, but Green makes up plenty of ground with her brilliant stories and poised observations of the unique world around her. 

Green brings stories and anecdotes to the stage the likes of which will be totally foreign to much of her audience. Effortlessly charming and disarmingly cheerful, Green quickly normalises her 'taboo' subject matter and gets the ball rolling without hesitation. There’s no need to ease into it - Green is raring to go and so are her audience.

What are likely some early-run jitters, however, make for an uncharacteristically stilted performance tonight. What usually comes faultlessly for Green at times feels forced and unnaturally meticulous - as if she is rigorously sticking to a script. This being said, Charging For It still maintains its sense of heart-warming intrigue and humorousness throughout. An eye opening and eye-widening peep behind the crushed velvet curtains, Green is well on her way to stardom.
