"Everyone's favourite Nordic bards have delivered their first ever concept album that tells the tale of a Viking mercenary and his quest for revenge."

More Amon Amarth More Amon Amarth

Another Amon Amarth record, number ten for those keeping score, another tale about Vikings set to melodic death metal that's more Gothenburg than Stockholm.

But wait — this time around there's a difference. Everyone's favourite Nordic bards have delivered their first ever concept album that tells the tale of a Viking mercenary and his quest for revenge. Musically Jomsviking is another solid effort, with the band returning to the gorgeous melodies that made Twilight Of The Thunder God so successful. Also of note is A Dream That Cannot Be, which features vocals from Doro Pesch, who provides a nice counterpoint to Johan Hegg's growls. Overall Jomsviking will please the purists and may even win the band a few new fans.
