Melodies that feel squeezed out of every word like a strongman wringing a sponge.

Crowd-funding poster child Allison Weiss keeps things simple on her new EP Remember When. Busting out five smooth pop rock tracks, the New York songwriter sticks to straightforward song progressions and melodies that feel squeezed out of every word like a strongman wringing a sponge.

While the songs could easily work as acoustic ballads, Weiss fills out the sound with a lot of extra instrumentation and synth ambience to add a lot more gravitas to the EP. Still, it’s the simplicity and ease with which the songs come together that makes Remember When so charming.
