A strong combination of modern and classic death metal.

More Aborted More Aborted

Aborted have produced strong, gore-laden death metal for over 15 years now. With so much time can come a lack of originality and progression but thankfully Aborted is a band that seems to hit it out of the ball park every time. New album, ‘The Necrotic Manifesto’ is no exception.

Beginning with ‘Six Feet of Foreplay,’ a short minute long intro track, it compiles creepy sounds to immediately assert this as an Aborted album. It sets up a great, terrifying and ongoing tone for the full-length before the listener is thrown straight into the aural onslaught that is ‘The Extirpation Agenda.’ Fast, pounding guitars and sheer brutality is something to please any death metal fan.

From the start, you can tell these Euro heavy-hitters don’t beat around the bush when it comes to the depths of aggression. Equally, it still manages to pay homage to classic death metal while appealing to a modern death metal audience, which is where Aborted has made the right call. The guitar solos throughout, such as in ‘Necrotic Manifesto,’ add to this stoic sound while the dual vocals give the album a whole new dimension.

It's all beautifully constructed with every song on there earning its place. Tracks like ‘Coffin Upon Coffin’ show Aborted’s diverse skills, incorporating elements of thrash and melodic metal without straying too far from their roots. Then we have tracks like ‘Die Verzweiflung’, which show a more slow, doom oriented approach.

The boys in Aborted have managed to make a really strong album this time around. ‘The Necrotic Manifesto’ is another step up.

'The Necrotic Manifesto' is an absolute onslaught of brutality, aggression and talent. The album has a really strong sound with every song having its own hint of something special. It's great modern death metal with a classic twist. It's heavy and aggressive while not feeling like you've just listened to the same song 14 times over.
