Cheap and for a good cause, what more could you want…

The kind hearted folk over at Hopeless and Sub City Records have done it again. That’s

right, in celebration of the annual “Take Action Tour” the two most

charitable record labels currently doing the rounds have released another

CD/DVD combo for the music fan that enjoys listening to a wealth of

different bands. In keeping with tradition, the tour’s diverse line

up should silence even the harshest of critics, as everyone from the

loud mouthed Every Time I Die to the soulful acoustic jams of Meg & Dia gets a look in on this compilation.

Regardless of your musical taste

I’m sure there is something that you’ll enjoy on Take Action Volume

7. Opening with a few words from ETID axe man Andy Williams

(along with his band’s current single) you’ll be treated to current

tracks from recent Canadian visitors Silverstein, Soundwave drop

outs Chiodos and the new look From First To Last. If that

doesn’t impress you then the pop leanings of Motion City Soundtrack, All Time Low and Cute Is What We Aim For make for an impressive

trifecta, while the heavier end of the comp is picked up by Drop

Dead Gorgeous, Thrice and The Bled.

Considering this package only

sets you back $10 most people would be satisfied with the twenty songs

on offer, however Hopeless/Sub City and have also included

another twenty video clips courtesy of the DVD component.

Again, the expected singles are

given a fair run, with the previously mentioned MotionCity

Soundtrack, The Plain White T’s and the always amusing Hellogoodbye contributing their promotional videos to a good cause. MxPx, All Time Low and the most hyped act of 2008 Four

Year Strong all prove that the pop punk revival is well and truly

on the way (thanks Kelly).

If you’re after something a

little heavier then the second of the disc should keep you happy, with The Red Chord, The Human Abstract, A Life Once Lost, High On Fire, August Burns Red and Suicide Silence

all doing their best to make a racket.

If you’re running low and cash

and you want to check out a bunch of new bands then this is the best

way to do it… it makes for a great mix for a road trip as well.
