Australia's "biggest horsepower party", Summernats, has announced its music line-up for 2018, securing stalwart acts Wolfmother, 28 Days and Thundamentals to bring the non-exhaust-related noise to next year's event.

Held over four days at Canberra's Exhibition Park, Summernats is an annual celebration of things that go vroom, with Nats first-timers 28 Days set to kick off the entertainment on the event's second day, Friday 5 January.

"We're definitely looking forward to a big hit out at Summernats," the band said in a statement. "It's a crazy crowd and that's exactly what we like."

Their enthusiasm was echoed by their fellow hip hop mainstays in Thundamentals, who said they are "pumped about hitting the Summernats".

"We hear the Nats gets pretty wild on Friday night, and it's gonna be a heap of fun with the guys from 28 Days there too."

Wolfmother will close out the entertainment the following night, Saturday 6 January, on the heels of an extensive overseas stint that has seen them tour their recent album Victorious around the world over most of the past year-and-a-half.

More than 100,000 people are expected to attend the 2018 Summernats event when it rolls into town from 4-7 January.

Tickets are on sale now from the Nats website.
