More Steve Aoki More Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki has confirmed his trend of collaborating with big names in science and technology will continue on future music projects.

Having previously worked with people like director JJ Abrams, author and biomedical gerontologist Aubrey de Grey and theoretical physicist Kip Thorne, as well as Bill Nye on his most recent album, Neon Future III, the US producer said he already has a wish list for his next record during an appearance on the latest episode of The Music Podcast.

"I've been putting out there that I want to collaborate with Elon Musk," Aoki told host Neil Griffiths.

"The ideal collaboration would be in the studio and that's just like figuring stuff out, as I do with other artists, or just record something on an iPhone and send it back to me."

Aoki revealed that the proposed collaborations would feature on the next LP, "Neon Future IV... and it's just as loaded".

"It's another complex kind of, far-broader reaching album as well. I worked on both albums at the same time and I'm still working on finishing new songs for this album... on the science scope of things, I am putting my reach out there to the science community."

Another name Aoki brought up is Israeli historian Yuval Harari, the author of international bestseller, Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind.

"I can envision a future where a lot of theses science fiction theories and ideas have a good likelihood of happening in our lifetime," Aoki said.

"Or better yet, the idea that we are so close to certain levels of science and technology and research that we are gonna be either the last generation to die, or the first generation to live forever.

"If we can push our technology and research on how to reverse cellular degeneration, how to cure cancer and brain degenerative diseases and how to cure the illnesses that are wiping out the population, how to look at possibly the idea that death is just a diseases that we can't cure yet... the idea of death would be something people used to get and die from."
