More Powderfinger More Powderfinger

The Vulture Street celebrations continue in August, as These Days (Live in Concert) will air in just one cinema, with fans also scoring the opportunity to meet Powderfinger.

For one night only, you can accompany Powderfinger at the Palace Barracks Cinema in Brisbane for a one-off screening on Thursday, 24 August, at 6:30 pm.

“In celebration of Vulture Street's 20th Anniversary: Experience ‘These Days (Live in Concert)’ on the big screen - a concert film originally recorded during the Live on Vulture Street Tour in 2003 and produced for DVD in 2004 - long out of print,” the band wrote on Facebook yesterday (14 July).

Acclaimed author and “absolute Brisbane legend” Trent Dalton is joining the band for a Q&A on the night. Afterwards, Powderfinger will host a meet and greet.

As you’d expect, tickets to this event are very limited. The tickets will be available exclusively for Powderfinger Mailing List Members. If you’re not a member already, sign up here by Monday, 17 July, to hopefully score tickets when they go on sale on Tuesday, 18 July, at noon.

Last week, Powderfinger revealed plans to release a Vulture Street 20th anniversary vinyl and abundant merchandise. The items on the band’s websites are pre-orders expected to ship on Friday, 25 August. You can pre-order your Vulture Street bundle pack here.

Releasing a limited edition 3LP coloured vinyl set, CDs, t-shirts, jumpers, caps, water bottles, tea towels, stubby packs and more, fans can get their hands on numerous items to commemorate tracks like (Baby I’ve Got You) On My Mind, Love Your Way, Since You’ve Been Gone and Sunsets.

Powderfinger’s fifth album gained the band the Best Rock Album award at the 2003 ARIA Awards and spent 47 weeks on the ARIA Charts after peaking at #1. They won further ARIA Awards for Vulture Street, including Album Of The Year, Best Group and Best Cover Art for the artwork, which featured Czech supermodel Eva Herzigová.

Vulture Street was a return to our Rock n Roll roots, after months and months on the road performing to bigger crowds on bigger stages in bigger rooms all around the world, we were starting to feel the effects that this kind of touring had on the way we were performing,” the band wrote in a statement yesterday.

“So, in that spirit, it feels right to add some of that live energy to this anniversary release with the addition of recordings from the ‘Live On Vulture Street’ Tour. Recordings which have never been made available before on Vinyl - until now. We’ve even added a touch of Emerald to the package in honour of those 20 great years.”
