VIDEO PREMIERE: Mecha Mecha Share Explosive 'My Hero The Homewrecker'

Brisbane-based rockers Mecha Mecha have unveiled the music video for their new single, My Hero The Homewrecker, which was released earlier this month.

Kill Your Stereo is premiering the electric music video before its official release tomorrow. Pulling from influences as noisy and unique as Rage Against The Machine, Jeff Buckley, Royal Blood and Muse, My Hero The Homewrecker features an extravagant display of theatrics.

The video itself takes viewers on a visually stunning journey as the band plays the song out. Showcasing a dynamic and vibrant colour palette, the clip perfectly complements the raw intensity of the track.

My Hero The Homewrecker opens with a neo-classical violin intro that sets the scene, leading the way for crushing guitars and pounding drums to compliment the song’s distinctive feel.

Walter Webb has the falsetto and effortless cool of Muse’s Matt Bellamy and a bass-playing style akin to the English band’s bassist Chris Wolstenholme. The rest of the band – violinist Isaac Vincent, Angelo Webb (drums, samples) and guitarist Kalen Austin fire on all cylinders, bringing the ambitious, towering track to life.

Green and purple lights flash on the set as confetti falls during the song’s chorus. Mecha Mecha's music blurs the lines of dark indie rock and neo-classical metal, with tinges of psytrance and EDM. The unusual lineup of electric violin, bass, and drums creates a unique and electric sound that is enrapturing. Check out the music video below.

My Hero The Homewrecker follows previously released tracks from the band including Greedy Boys and Caught In A Cage. For the former, Mecha Mecha told The Music, “The song is highlighting the extended childhood the members of this band feel we have been given. Both in the support from our family and friends to pursue our music dreams, but also sort of culturally we’ve been allowed to chase a teenage dream.”
