Claudie Joy & The Joy Boys is the project behind young WA musician Claudia Tero, who is gaining a small but dedicated following for her unique storytelling. Dragonfly follows a non-linear storyline that slips into mental health, imposter syndrome and love. It’s smart songwriting that many artists wouldn’t be unable to replicate without Tero’s talent. The vocal takes in this track are also a highlight, with Tero’s voice sounding akin to a young Missy Higgins over soft drums and rhythmic jangly guitars. It’s such a unique song that every listen brings something new to the surface, and it feels like you’re on a musical treasure hunt.

Vetta Borne has been releasing banger after banger lately, and If You See Kate is no different. Leaning a little further away from the 70s groove style that she focused on in Girls and Kissing Strangers, this new release attempts to join more of a 2000s dance era and kills it in every aspect. Seductive and hot-blooded, If You See Kate makes you want to get on the floor of a nightclub almost immediately and beat drives home the same feeling that Kylie Minogues’ 2001 banger Can’t Get You Out Of My Head does, but with a more modern feel. Paired with Borne’s emotive vocals, this song is set to rock the clubs for many years to come.

LORA has been on everyone's radar since releasing her 2022 album adulting, filled with sparkling bedroom pop and outstanding storytelling. Now, she's back with her first single of 2023, drive, grabbing our attention once again. Detailing the feelings that bubble over when surrendering to the scary feeling of love, LORA’s vocals take us on a soft but strong journey in between cinematic synths and funky beats. This track sees LORA attempt a more bedroom-pop style, and the result is incredible, setting her on a new path that we’re excited to watch.

Blending surfy alt-rock with 90’s grunge, the boys have managed to find their groove in an oversaturated genre, producing some stand-out tunes. Good Measure follows their usual sound, with bright driving guitars and heavy drums that lay the bed for the droning vocals to shine. These boys don’t have far to go before they play with heavyweights like Violent Soho and Catfish and The Bottlemen.
