When announcing the festival back in June, Origin Fields’ Saran Bajaj said: Being able to curate a broader musical programme with our partners at BTV has been one of the most enjoyable booking experiences I’ve personally have ever had.

“With the strengths of the two festivals, I feel, that we will be able to create an event that is unique to Brisbane as Beyond The Valley is unique to Melbourne and Origin is to Perth.”

Back in 2015, Tyler, The Creator claimed via Twitter that he had been “banned” from entering Australia, apparently due to a petition by feminist activist group Collective Shout.

Shortly after, the tour was cancelled, with Tyler stating: "We would much rather come to Australia when it isn't surrounded in controversy. I love my fans there and hopefully I'll be back soon.”

The Music has reached out to the Department of Home Affairs for comment.
