There’s Life In The Old Dog Yet: Hugh Jackman Announces Title Of Another Wolverine Film

Aussie A-lister Hugh Jackman has been playing X-man stalwart Wolverine for 16 years, so you might think the 47-year-old actor would be getting tired of the scowling glares and brutal fitness regimen needed to portray the musclebound super anti-hero.

Apparently, Jackman has no plans to hang up his adamantium claws anytime soon, as the title and first teaser poster for the next instalment of the Wolverine saga was announced overnight.

Logan is to be directed by James Mangold, who already has good form with Marvel’s most successful film franchise having helmed The Wolverine in 2013. The poster shows the iconic clawed fist clutching a child’s hand, but this relatively gentle image belies what has been promised to be one of the most explicitly violent movies ever produced by Marvel Studios, and its first R-rated adventure.

Plot details have already been leaked, according to cinema industry site The Wrap. Note potential SPOILERS ahead.

Logan takes place in 2024, in a time when out familiar X-men favourites, including Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart), are succumbing to old age. Logan, whose regenerative abilities have begun to fade is mentoring a young mutant, one of the few remaining in the world as the birth of new super-powered meta-humans has sharply declined. As in previous instalments, an evil corporation is hellbent on capturing the few remaining X-kids to repurpose them as killing machines. Thrills and adventure ensue

The film is scheduled to hit cinemas in March 2017. Four more X-Men films are also in the Hollywood works: Deadpool 2, Gambit, New Mutants and X-Force, scheduled for release in late 2017 through to 2018.
