More The Offspring More The Offspring

Whether you love it or hate it, you can't deny the fact that the public voted and that The Offspring's Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) won out the 1998 triple j Hottest 100.

Triple J's sister station Double J kicked off a campaign yesterday allowing listeners to rewrite history, recasting their vote for who they think should really hold the title as the winner.

Overnight, one listener has kicked off a petition, "Triple J: Keep 'The Offspring' in 'Triple J Hottest 100'!", calling for Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) to remain where it is.

"In 1998, 'The Offspring' got the #1 spot on 'triple j Hottest 100' with the song Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) but now, they're trying to re-write history by holding another vote," reads the petition statement.

"They actually want to change public opinion two decades later! VOTE TO KEEP OFFSPRING AT #1 & SIGN THIS PETITION to let triple j know they can't go changing the past!"

"The 90's was a different time. People actually liked "rock music" back then. Some of the other songs included Korn's Got The Life, Celebrity Skin by Hole and Do The Evolution by Pearl Jam, not to mention countless other classics by acts like Metallica, Grinspoon, Regurgitator and Frenzal Rhomb."

Depending how you feel about it, you can sign the petition here, or you can re-cast your vote here.
